Business Continuity ManagementClient Needs A local authority in Kent required assistance in the development, preparation, awareness raising and coaching of staff, desk top testing, implementation, reviewing, auditing, embedding and sustaining of business continuity into the organisation across all directorates of the Council. We were further asked to develop content for web pages on business continuity and to undertake a survey of all SME's in the borough. Results We completed a business impact analysis, determined continuity strategies, coached senior managers, provided awareness raising for staff and the application of desk top scenario testing, developed and implemented a customised business continuity response, prepared exercises to embed and sustain business continuity into the organisations culture. The outcome of this work was that the Council have robust continuity plans in place that prioritise their key services, allowing them too effectively and efficiently deal with any unexpected interruptions to the services delivered by the Council. The business continuity web pages created provided those accessing this information with referenced information about how they can prepare for unexpected incidents so they can continue to function. A survey of SME's in the borough provided the council with a clear indication of the numbers of businesses who had continuity plans in place, those who at the time had not implemented any contingency measures, those who needed assistance and those SME's who did not intend to take any preventative measures. |
