Process Improvement and Mapping (1)

Client Needs

Based close to Kings Cross a regionally operational consultancy and Train to Gain provider established a new Skills Division. Crown Weston Associates were approached to identify, map and report on the key processes needed for the division to function effectively and efficiently to reduce duplication, improve communication between the operational and strategic functions and deliver robust operational process maps and guidance.

Results

A set of thirty processes covering all aspects of the new Skills Division were prepared, mapped on A1 flip charts through meetings with managerial and operational staff, converted to Excel format, agreed and reported upon, and with each process map having accompanying narrative describing how each task within the specific process is to be completed.

Client Needs

A national Welfare to Work provider's Quality Management System based upon ISO 9001:2000 required updating, revision, reviewing and maintenance of their core processes.

Results

As a result of updating, revising, reviewing and maintaining their core processes, the documented processes reflected how the clients staff worked, resulting in their ISO 9001:2000 accreditation being re-accredited by BVQI for a further three years and being praised for the quality of work being undertaken.

Client Needs

An FE college in south London delivering Train to Gain provision approached Crown Weston Associates and asked us to meet with the Business, Training and Sales Support Managers to identify, map and report on learner end to end processes.

Results

Following a meeting in which managers described the overall process, these were drawn out on AI flip charts, and subsequently split into a number of simplified processes maps, The process maps were converted into an Excel format, with each process having an accompanying narrative, that described how each task within the process was to be completed, including the incorporation of funding body audit criteria.

The customer was very happy with the resulting maps and the timely manner in which they were produced to meet a pre-specified deadline.
